    BACON,  Suddenly on Friday, 27 June, 1902, Harriett Roberts widow of John Bacon.  Aged 80 years.  Interred, St. James Cemetery, Toronto.


ROBERTS, Robert Henry Donald [1915-2001]
    Robert Henry Donald was born May 6, 1915 in Chemainus, B.C. and passed away in St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver on May 27, 2001 at age 86.  He was predeceased by his sister Doris Cheeke of Cobble Hill.  Don is survived by his wife, Phyllis, his sister, Monica (Arne) Bergerson of Duncan, three nephews,  Richard Cheeke of Victoria, David Cheeke of Montreal, Peter Cheeke of Corvallis, Oregon, and their families.  Don will be fondly remembered by his family, including several cousins, and by his many friends.  Don's early life was spent on Kuper Island, before his parents Percy and Isobel Roberts move to Duncan.  After attending Normal School in Victoria,. Don began his teaching career at Paldi on the Island.  He later was a teacher and principal in Rossland and Trail.  He concluded his teaching career at Centennial School in Coquitlam.  Don's special interest in the history of B.C. was a natural outcome of his connection to three pioneering families: Roberts of Kuper Island, the Nagle family of Victoria, and the Holmes family of Duncan.  His interests include tennis, golf, skiing, travel and music-especially opera.  Bridge was a life-long interest which she shared with his cousin, Eileen. .......
