IRELAND

The BACON Family is said to have come from Waterford, county Waterford, Ireland.  Edward Bacon married Charlotte Gowan c.1810.  To this date no further information has been found on Edward Bacon of Waterford.  His son, John Bacon, immigrated to Canada with his uncle Ogle Robert Gowan in  1829.


CANADA

John Bacon married Harriet Roberts in St. Peter's Church, Brockville, Ont., 23 Jan., 1840 and was a merchant.  The family moved to Toronto and in 1856 was operating a dry goods store at 68 Yonge St.  For some further information about John and his relationship with his son-in-law, Francis Phillips, see Francis Phillips Bio
